Project Spey

Speyside Distillers Ltd are pleased to welcome you to this public exhibition of their initial proposal for the development of new distillery, marketing suite and maturation warehouses with associated access, parking, infrastructure, and servicing. We are keen through this process to hear the views of local people to help inform the proposals and advance the preparation and submission of a planning application to Highland Council /Cairngorms National Park Authority.

A new distillery is required due to the need to relocate the current premises, the lack of available space and the desire to expand operations to bring all aspects of the process together in one facility.

Following feedback received from other members of the public and other

individuals / organisations during the initial consultation, we will refine and

develop the proposals prior to holding virtual and in person events in October. This will share updated plans as we consider the preparation of the planning application

This first public exhibition gives you the opportunity to:

• View the background and our initial approach to the site

• Ask any questions of the project team

• Share your views and complete a feedback form on any aspect of the proposals

We look forward to hearing your views either at the event, or after by email to speysidedistillers@wrightpdl.co.uk, before the 2nd November 2022.

WHY RELOCATE?

Recent increased market demands, both home and abroad, and future growth projections have resulted in the increased production of Scotch Whisky which in turn is delivering much needed growth for Scottish and UK economy. Increased demand impacts on increased laydown of spirit for maturation.

Speyside Distillers Ltd currently transports product to the central belt for

maturation purposes, bottling, packaging, and distribution and are keen to be part of the industry and government’s drive on sustainability

The current distillery is operating at maximum output within its existing building constraints. These building and site constraints limit potential expansion of the current facilities to meet the current and projected growth and to bring in more sustainable manufacturing

A new site allows Speyside Distillers to make their home and centralise their

entire future operation from field to bottle.

The proposed site:

• Allows for expansion to meet rising market demand.

• Maintains Speyside Distillers Ltd local presence, brand and localised

flavour profile

• allows for maintaining and expanding Speyside Distillers Ltd workforce

by centralising operations;

• provides opportunity for a sensitively designed and aesthetic

architectural solution respecting place and environment

• establishes a new permanent home in the heart of Speyside overlooking

the River Spey
